"We were so pleased with our experience at Playa Uvas. We discovered them through our hotel website, Wyndham.com, because we were looking to book a scuba resort dive during our vacation. Since there are so many options in Cozumel, I thought it best and easiest to book the one advertised by our hotel. It was such a pleasurable experience from beginning to end. As soon as I sent the reservation in, I received an email from Eduardo. We corresponded back and forth several times through email and even on his cell phone. He answered every question I had and put me completely at ease about our reservation. I asked him to suggest the best date to go so the cruise ships would not be at port, and he suggested the date and said we would have our own private instructor. That's exactly what we got! A nice, quiet, private resort dive...it was amazing!

When we arrived at Playa Uvas, I had just walked up to the reservation counter and before I even said anything, Eduardo knew me by name immediately. It felt very nice to be "expected". The check in was a breeze, and we met with our instructor, Luis, a few minutes later. Luis was very friendly and knowledgable. We had a quick lesson reviewing all of the skills, then we got our gear and went to the beach to practice. Once we passed the skills, we took off for a spectacular beach dive where we went 25 feet under. That was so beautiful! We saw tons of fish, octopus, lobsters, starfish...it was awesome! Then we went on the boat out to Paradise Reef and went diving 50 feet! It was truly the coolest experience of my life. I felt so at peace down there, and I felt completely secure with our instructor by our side.

I am so glad that Playa Uvas made our fist scuba experience such a great one. I will definitely be back, and I highly recommend them. Thank you, Eduardo, Carmen, Luis and Jorge for a great time!"

"Jorge - I just returned from a week long trip to Cozumel where I took your 3 day PADI open water certification course. I had an absolutely amazing time. The primary dive instructor, Luis, was extremely knowledgeable about the Cozumel area and I couldn't have asked for a better instructor or location to complete my certification. The course included several open water dives (including boat dives on the last day) which provided an opportunity to see the amazing under-water world of Cozumel while practicing my diving skills. During our boat dives, we saw two nurse sharks, a huge green moray eel, several large sea turtles, and a sting ray, not to mention tons of colorful fish and coral formations. I couldn't have been happier with my choice to complete my certification in Cozumel, and I know I'm going to be a diver for life!"

"This was so much fun. I was a beginner so I was pretty nervous but the instructor was so helpful and really new his stuff. We started out with a quick lesson on the most important things about diving and then we did training in shallow water. But once we did that and started diving I was hooked. It was so awesome to be all the way at the bottom of the ocean! However one word of caution. The instructor never warned of anything to look out for and so I ended up getting stung by a fire coral, not so much fun."

"We really enjoyed our day on 2/21 at Uvas. We purchased the all inclusive package. First we went on a 45 minute guided clear kayak tour followed by snorkeling. Luis our tour guide was very attentive and took great care of us, We saw a lot of small fish and coral. After that we were able to relax, drink and eat fajitas. Most of the staff even remembered my name. Even though there we ship tours going on throughpout the day it never felt crowded because everything was extremely organized. "We came back yesterday from out visit to Cozumel; I've got so much to tell you, I don't know where to begin LOL.

Being a whole week on the island we realized all we've missed in our prior visit of only a few hours. We had beautiful weather with lots of sun & heat - it only rained in the afternoons, or during the night. Last time we were here we had an overcast, cloudy, rainy day, and I didn't quite like the color of the ocean, but with the sun, it's beautiful! There were days that we could see up to 6-7 different colors of the ocean.
The idea was that my husband would take his scuba diving course at Playa Uvas, so we decided to stay at the Fiesta Americana Hotel - only 300 yards from Uvas - and we liked it; the service was special, food was very good, the room was very nice, the beach club, etc., everything ! We think it is one of the best hotels on the island.
Anyway, the plan was that only my husband was taking the course, but when we were there, I traded my reading book for the course and we both got certified. On our first day to Uvas, Carmen introduced us to our 3-day course scuba diving instructor, Luis, and as soon as we said hello, I trusted him for the job. Luis is a local; he was born in Cozumel, younger than I expected, 23-24 years old, I think - speaks very good English and always, at every moment, we felt we were in very good hands.

I'm going to have to do my review of our trip in stages; I have lots of things to accomplish today, so as soon as I get a little more free time, I'll continue...

Don't want to start telling you in detail about the diving course, because I wouldn't know when to stop.. LOL, but we had 3 very exciting and complete days. We had several "theory" sessions, equipment handling, shallow divings, diving from the boat, fun diving, etc., and, above all, Luis would make a lot of emphasis on security. We always knew, beforehand, what to do in case of........ We staged the accidents under water so we could put into practice our teachings... things like, what to do if you run out of oxygen, what to do if we get attacked, etc.

From the first time out, we were always very well looked after; Eduardo, Carmen, Rafael, Jorge, everyone, very friendly, so by the second day I felt like part of the staff . One time, David, the one in charge of keeping the greens beautiful, taught me a few tricks so my gardenias are always blooming. Priceless!

Because this time we didn't buy a package, whatever we ordered was A LA CARTE; the food, I didn't know this, is prepared by a Chef, everything delicious - we just didn't get to the Margaritas because Luis did not allow us to drink alcohol. LOL. The book, I read it on the plane, because after each lesson I was frankly ready to walk back to the hotel, shower, eat dinner and sleep. I don't know if it is the thrill of the new experience, being on the boat with the sun all day, but I was drained and only wanted to rest. Two minutes after putting my head on the pillow, I was in dreamland; I was up early the next day, all ready and excited to continue with our instruction, we ate great breakfasts and we would walk back to Uvas and meet with Luis.
The experience of the certification that we got during those 3 days, was unforgettable, and we were handed our provisional C-cards and were told that PADI would mail us the official ones. I hope they don't forget with all this Holiday excitement. LOL
